“I foster because I believe in giving animals a second chance at happiness. Being part of H.E.A.R allows me to directly impact the lives of animals in need, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment until they find their forever homes. When my youngest was little, he told me Daddy said we could get a dog. Without checking with my husband, I took my three kids to a rescue to look at dogs. I wanted an older dog, and while my kids loved every one they saw, a little girl in the corner caught my eye. She looked defeated and didn't jump up like the others. I knew she was the one. She turned out to be the best dog ever, and we are so lucky to have her. This experience inspired us to help animals in shelters find their forever homes or at least foster homes where they can feel loved. That's why I want to volunteer with H.E.A.R. and do my part.

Our family rescues because we believe it’s our duty to give a voice  to the voiceless including animals. Fostering started after we lost our long-time family companions. Grief is love with nowhere to go so we put our love into helping others. It’s been a great experience that has given us more than we could have imagined.

Each year, approximately 1.5 million dogs and cats are euthanized. Seeing this number breaks my heart. I've walked through shelters, looked into the eyes of countless animals, each one deserving of a loving home and a happy ending. Sadly, so many never get that chance. But fostering makes a powerful difference. Animals in foster care are often less stressed and better socialized, and you may even have the opportunity to teach them basic house manners. This gives them a much better chance of being adopted and finding the forever home they deserve.

We believe senior dogs deserve love, comfort, and care in their golden years. Many of these sweet souls end up in shelters through no fault of their own, often overlooked because of their age. We are able to provide a safe, nurturing home for them while we search for their perfect forever families. Dave and I see the beauty in their gentle spirits, wisdom, and loyalty. We are honored to give them the second chance they deserve to live out their days in peace and happiness.
